One Book, One Community 2017

One Book, One Community 2017

People coming together through the reading and discussion of a common book.

The goal of the Franklin Public Library's One Book, One Community program is to help build a better sense of fellowship through a shared reading experience.

The four titles (two fiction, two nonfiction) were selected by the library's Collection Development team and were chosen for their literary merit, contemporary relevance, and reading enjoyment.  The titles are A Head Full of Ghosts, by Paul Tremblay; The Last Bookaneer, by Matthew Pearl; Hillbilly Elegy:  a memoir of a family and culture in crisis, by J.D. Vance;  Midnight in Siberia: a train journey into the heart of Russia, by David Greene.

To vote, please visit this link.

The title with the most community votes will be the 2017 town-wide read.

Which book do you think we should read?  Voting takes place now through December 31st.

Please attend this family friendly  PowerPoint presentation to learn how to use the new Library Telescope to observe objects from your own backyard using a technique called starhopping and see how easy it is to use!

This telescope was provided with funding from MathWorks of Natick, MA, and will be maintained by the Aldrich Astronomical Society, Inc. as part of their Adopt a Library Program.
Spacey door prizes will be offered for children, along with outside viewing for all, weather permitting.

After the program, the telescope will be available for patrons to check out and bring home for one week!
